Principles

A philosophy of focus

We believe in progress, but that doesn’t mean we’re overly enthusiastic about every aspect of our world today.

Because what we gain in possibilities is also what we lose in focus: a loss of focus on our goals, and the ability to work towards them without distraction; and a loss of focus on our shared humanity, the need to speak to humans as humans. Which after all, is what makes life interesting in the first place.

This is what we promise you in your experience with us. To work intently towards your goals without getting distracted by the noise around us, to always prioritise communication that inspires human action, and to grow a personal connection that can brighten your day.

Working with intent

Bold and steady beats frantic and insecure. Nobody likes the feeling of running a race they can’t win. And still, we try to catch on to every trend as it passes by. Together, we take a step back and put your goals in the spotlight. We create a plan you believe in and we commit to it. Getting closer with every step. It’s not an endless race, it’s an expedition. A long hard trudge that’s endlessly more satisfying once you reach the end.

Inspire daring

Our purpose is our way of moving past the gridlock of the indecisive buyer. It means we favour original and exceptional communication to inspire action, but it also means we’ll sometimes step out of our comfort zones to distinguish ourselves from other players. For you, we’ll inspire daring by respectfully challenging your thinking, sharing new ideas, and pushing towards real decisions that make the difference.

Let's get personal

We humans are social creatures. Few things beat striking a conversation with a stranger, and discovering common interests and perspectives. For us at BBC, professionalism and personality are two sides of the same coin. We encourage our people to be themselves, to share their passions and to show an interest in yours. Because there’s something about working with humans that makes you feel like a human as well.

Practical

The Explorer's Guide

If projects are like expeditions, it feels comforting to have an idea of the road ahead. Our Explorer’s Guides break down our projects into distinct steps, along with templates and examples to guide our thinking. Here are a couple of milestones we’ll pass together.

Define phase

  • Intake

  • The Client Brief
A focused summary of your brief, detailing why we do the things we want to do, the outcomes we’re after, and the concrete deliverables we need.

  • Proposal

  • Approach & planning

  • Strategy
The first outcome of your question. The strategy sets the direction in messaging, media, and the thinking behind them.

Ideate phase

  • Creative kickoff

  • Key concepts

  • Concept presentations
Get eye to eye with our creatives and designers. We present the ideas and concepts our strategy inspired, with varying degrees of daring.

  • Feedback & finalisation

Execute phase

  • Production kickoff

  • Creation & production

  • Asset check-in
Before sending our first batch of deliverables, the entire team huddles together to critically assess every single asset. A crucial step to maintain quality and coherence.

  • Feedback & corrections

Club Curiosity

Everything you learn today can change the course of the days to come. Because each new insight is an option to see and do things differently. And all too often doing something differently is what gives you the edge.

Club Curiosity Talks

Every three months (provided we have the discipline to keep it up), we host a special Club Curiosity event at our offices in Mechelen. We rally our experts and invite speakers to talk about one specific topic that deserves our attention. And we end it all with drinks and bites.
